In Something Happens Here, I ask: What if communion is a prism, through which we can see the colors of our life and love together?
I suggest that through the lens of the holy meal, the Wesley brothers revealed the spirituality of the Methodist movement. Through it they saw the presence of Christ, along with the power of remembrance, the possibility of personal transformation, and the practice of community.
In Something Happens Here, I identify historical influences that shaped this rich vision, and I trace evidence of it in Wesleyan hymns and writings.
But I also ask: What if we look through this communion prism today? How can reclaiming the distinctiveness of Wesleyan communion spirituality help us in times of divisiveness?
I believe our greatest hope is in coming back to the table in order to move forward. After reading this, perhaps you will too.
