As I write on the day of Epiphany, January 6, I am pondering the ways that we are called to be people of the light and to carry the light of Christ’s presence into a new year. This is always an exciting time, full of possibilities.
One of the ways I have been celebrating the change into the year 2014 has been to collect some inspirational quotes and share them on Facebook and Twitter. Here they are, in hopes that it helps you move into the new year with courage and grace.
“Transformation is something we more easily see in the rear-view mirror than out the side window.” – Barry Pearman
“Faith is to believe what we do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what we believe.” St. Augustine
“The great miracle of Christianity is the Incarnation … Every other miracle prepares for this, exhibits this, or results from this." CS Lewis
"The fact of Jesus' coming is the final and unanswerable proof that God cares." - William Barclay
“The object of a new year is not that we should have a new year, but rather that we should have a new soul.” - G.K. Chesterton
“Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy ... shall form an invincible host against difficulties.” -H. Keller
“Be true to yourself. When something feels wrong, it probably is. Cut your course and stay with it.” – Byron O’Quinn (my wise father-in-law)
"And now we welcome the new year, full of things that have never been." - Rainer Maria Rilke
